Terasa Zoellner talks about their success and why Beatrice is the perfect place to call home for Zoellner Design Co.
Q– Why did you choose Beatrice as your new home and place to own a business?
A- “Beatrice truly picked us! Our family migrated from western to eastern Nebraska over the years. When the Ford Dealership in Beatrice came up for sale, my husband, Jason Zoellner, bought it in May 2020. As we visited Beatrice to check on the dealership and our new home, we admired the charming green building on 6th and Ella. Two years later, when the Lang Building came up for sale, I knew instantly I wanted to expand our business footprint and bring Zoellner Design Co. to life.”
Q- Experiences owning a family business in Nebraska?
A- “Teresa’s dream of owning a home design store, initially called ‘The Sand and the Sea’ after my daughters’ eye colors, took shape when the Beatrice building became available. With both daughters eager to join, the store was named Zoellner Design Co.” Daughters Abigayle and Lilly helped turn the vision into a reality. Abigayle, with a degree in Art and Advertising from UNK, and Lilly, with a business degree from UNL. “Our family business journey feels natural, given Jason’s background and our extended family’s involvement in the car industry. Working together as a family involves clear communication and shared passion, which drives us.”
Q- Describe the Beatrice & surrounding communities?
A- “We love Beatrice and its neighboring communities for their small-town spirit and strong values. Despite being close to Lincoln, these towns maintain a sense of community that’s deeply rooted in generosity. The support we’ve received has been remarkable, with customers traveling from Lincoln, Omaha, Kansas, and beyond. The encouragement from the Chamber of Commerce, fellow small business owners, and our social media followers has been invaluable. Seeing old family friends visit has been particularly special, and we are deeply grateful for the community’s kindness.”
