Come See What Rolls By

A two-lane highway surrounded by grassy plains in the Sandhills of Nebraska.

Nebraska’s highways and byways make it easy to pick up the pace or take the scenic route — whichever path you choose. I-80 runs east to west across the state, connecting Iowa to the Colorado state line with major stops like Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island, Kearney and North Platte along the way. It’s a straight shot through the heart of Nebraska, keeping commutes short and road trips efficient.

Looking for something less direct and more delightful? Come see what our scenic byways have to offer. The National Scenic Byway winds through charming towns like Broken Bow, Ord, and Valentine, with views of the Sandhills’ rolling hills and mixed-grass prairies. Or take the 197-mile Bridges to Buttes Scenic Byway along Highway 20 in Northeast Nebraska to explore surreal landscapes like Toadstool Geologic Park.

Wherever life takes you, Nebraska’s well-connected roadways turn every trip into an everyday adventure.

Lift Off. Land Easy.

It’s not hard to stay grounded in The Good Life, but with 78 public-use airports — including nine with commercial service and 69 for general aviation — going airborne has never been easier.

Eppley Airfield in Omaha is Nebraska’s largest and busiest airport, welcoming more than 5 million passengers annually. It offers around 70 departures daily to 34 nonstop destinations through seven major airlines. In 2024, Eppley announced a $950 million terminal modernization and expansion to develop a new international flights facility — making global travel more convenient. That same year, it also soared into J.D. Power’s Top 15 Medium-Sized Airports in the U.S. for customer satisfaction.

Looking for an airport that makes your journey a breeze? Western Nebraska-Scottsbluff Regional Airport was named Airport of the Year by the Nebraska Department of Transportation in 2024 for its commitment to safety, efficiency, and exceptional service.

From cross-country business trips to quick regional hops, Nebraska airports keep you connected. Whether you’re flying private or commercial, you’ll find sky-high convenience across the state.

Hop On and Go Places

Kick back and let Nebraska public transportation do the driving with dozens of options designed for ease, access, and connectivity.

Omaha’s transit system, Metro, provides comprehensive transportation services in the region. The local daily service provides bus routes across town, while the Omaha Rapid Bus Transit (ORBT) offers smart technology, level boarding, and more frequent service along the Dodge Street corridor into downtown. Omaha Metro also provides MOBY — a complimentary, door-to-door ADA/Paratransit bus service for ADA-eligible residents and visitors. And with the Omaha Streetcar Project projected to begin operations in 2028, the city is creating even further connections between the urban core’s vibrant entertainment districts and midtown neighborhoods.

Outside the metro, demand-response rural transit services make sure smaller communities stay mobile. North Fork Area Transit keeps Norfolk connected, CRANE Public Transit serves riders in and around Grand Island, while R.Y.D.E. helps residents in the Kearney micro-politan area get where they need to go when provided with a 24-hour notice.

Looking for the perfect route? Nebraska Public Transit also offers an interactive map and comprehensive list of transportation providers and services across Nebraska’s seven regions, including intercity transit options.
